As is written about elsewhere here, I spent a long time not living my life authentically - and doing so intentionally. As a result I learnt - the hard and painful way - that in doing so, we experience deep unhappiness.
Authenticity feeds joy and freedom.
For several years now I have been researching authenticity and purpose, and have come to appreciate how much it is needed and quietly sought after by so many. Sometimes it’s in all areas of life, sometimes in just one or two. I’ve met people almost crushed lifeless by living almost entirely disingenuously, and I’ve met plenty of people suppressing sexuality, a key core need, social authenticity, and relational honesty, for example.
For my in-person retreats I developed 3 pillars to base other work around, that provide a framework to guide reflection and a path to feeling happiness with ourself, and in turn a deeper sense of authentic self.
